August meetings & updates:
Upcoming:
MBA is scheduled to testify before the Senate Finance Committee on Monday August 17 at 10AM at the Legislature Building on St Thomas. All budget hearings are open to the public. Budget documents are anticipated to become available here. We have archived past years' for reference.
If held, the August MBA board meeting should take place Friday August 21 at 9AM at either at Shed 4 or on Zoom. We’ll share details as we get them, or check MBA’s facebook page.
The next Friends community meeting will be held on Saturday August 22 at 10AM at a picnic table near Shed 4 and virtually at https://meet.google.com/get-fnmk-foi.
We’ll have a Magens bird watching intro session immediately before the community meeting, Saturday August 22 from 8AM-10AM near Shed 4. More details on our facebook page soon.

What Friends has been doing:
Submitted feedback on the Territorial Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation
Plan (TCORP), including at their workshops. You can still submit feedback through their online survey at https://arcg.is/0bv15K.
Emailed our group’s positions to Senate general election candidates. (We had already emailed our positions to candidates for Gov/LtGov and Delegate.)
Drafting our bylaws, in progress. (Do you have experience writing bylaws and want to help review ours? Let us know.)
What’s going on at Magens:
We’re hearing complaints about loud hazardous remote control racing boats in the evenings at the far left end of Magens. If you have ideas for what we can collectively do about this, please share them.
Get involved:
We’re always looking for volunteers. Join a Friends working group! Time commitments are low.
Or join the board of Friends of Fairchild at Magens Bay! Are you interested in being considered, or would like to nominate someone else? Email board@friendsmagens.org or let us know at an upcoming community meeting.
Spread the word about Friends, follow us on facebook, and share your opinion with MBA and others; see https://www.friendsmagens.org/focus-areas/communications.
