Community events
Ella organized a second bird walk and a mushroom walk
20+ people at bird walk, lots of kids, will do it again next month
20-30 people for mushroom walk, will plan to do it again in ~3 months when Kurt is back on island
Jonetta talked to division of personnel health insurance about doing a senior event
Sara organized Wednesday trash walks
Not seeing as much trash in the chair area on Wednesday evenings as in the past - still lots of bottle caps, straws, and other small trash but the larger items are mostly being picked up
Will move future trash walks to holiday weekends/holidays when possible and cover different areas of the beach
[For November, trash walks will be Sun Nov 1, Wed Nov 11, Sun Nov 29]
Ideas for things Friends can do [feedback on these ideas, and more ideas welcome!]
Sponsor a kids art competition (with prizes) - make Christmas cards or calendars with the art
Ask people if they want us to spread the word about their events at Magens on our facebook page and calendar
Maybe ask MBA to place a physical bulletin board at Magens for this purpose?
Start a regular group swim or swim buddy pairs
Turtle event - invite someone from STAR / CWORI / UVI to lead a sea turtle talk
Collect old photos of Magens (including photos that need to be scanned) - please share photos if you have them
Future community meetings
Monthly is probably too frequent - we have a lot to discuss when there was an MBA board meeting or other major projects/news, but not much other months
